M-R 8 am - 5 pm Requisition Number Position Goals The Assistant Dean for Teaching, Learning, and Faculty Development reports directly to the Dean of eLearning and Academic Support Services. This position supports the College's Strategic Mission, particularly as it relates to retention and realization, through intentional leadership, oversight, and coordination of faculty development and academic support programming across the College. The role provides strategic direction and operational oversight for the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), the Academic Math Lab, the Writing Center, and the English as a Second Language (ESL) Lab. The Assistant Dean develops and implements innovative, inclusive, and evidence-based programming that promotes teaching excellence, instructional innovation, and student success. A central responsibility of this role is to lead institutional efforts in the academic, ethical, and effective use of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. This includes guiding faculty in integrating AI into instruction in ways that enhance learning, uphold academic integrity, and prepare students to use AI responsibly and effectively in both academic and real-world contexts. Job Description Faculty Development Programming. Develop, coordinate, and deliver faculty development programming that supports effective teaching practices and student engagement. Design workshops, seminars, faculty learning communities, and professional development events through the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). Promote evidence-based approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment grounded in current pedagogical research. Support faculty participation in ongoing professional development that enhances instructional effectiveness and student learning outcomes. Leadership, Oversight, and Operations Provide leadership and operational oversight for CETL, including strategic planning, programming, and continuous improvement. Oversee and support the day-to-day operations of the Math Lab and Writing Lab in collaboration with Academic Support Services staff. Ensure alignment of faculty development, tutoring, and academic support services to promote student success. Faculty Development & CETL Programming Design, implement, and assess faculty development programming, including workshops, seminars, and faculty learning communities. Promote evidence-based teaching practices and engagement in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). Facilitate faculty collaboration, innovation, and the sharing of effective teaching strategies. Artificial Intelligence in Teaching & Learning Lead institutional efforts to support the academic, ethical, and effective use of AI in teaching and learning. Develop and deliver programming that helps faculty integrate AI into coursework in pedagogically sound ways. Provide guidance on academic integrity, responsible AI use, and evolving best practices. Support faculty in preparing students to use AI tools critically, ethically, and effectively in academic and professional contexts. Collaboration & Institutional Engagement Work closely with faculty and the Academic Support Services division (eLearning, Tutoring, Library) to integrate instructional and academic support efforts. Partner with instructional designers and librarians to align faculty development with course design, digital learning, and information literacy. Contribute to institutional initiatives that advance teaching excellence and student learning. Assessment & Continuous Improvement Evaluate the effectiveness of CETL programming and academic support initiatives. Use data and feedback to inform improvements and demonstrate impact on teaching and learning. Comply with all safety, fire, and smoking regulations. Complete all mandatory compliance and safety training as scheduled by Human Resources. Perform all other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited institution. At least 3 years of College-level teaching experience. Experience in faculty development, instructional support, or academic programming. Experience with CETL or similar faculty development initiatives with demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based pedagogy and instructional technologies. Demonstrated experience or strong working knowledge of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning contexts. Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and academic support units. Experience with Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) or pedagogical research preferred. Experience designing and facilitating professional development programming preferred. Experience integrating AI or emerging technologies into curriculum or faculty development initiatives preferred.
