Open Until Filled Position Purpose Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with special education students to meet instructional goals and objectives, and to free certified professional employees from non-professional duties to enable them to make a contribution to other aspects of the educational program. Essential Job Functions Assists students in developing functional life skills, including personal hygiene, self-care, communication, organization, and independent living skills. Supports students in community-based instruction activities, vocational training, and school-to-work transition programs as directed by the supervising teacher. Implements behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and supports positive behavioral strategies designed to promote student success and independence. Assists students with mobility, positioning, transfers, and the use of adaptive equipment according to established procedures and training. Supports students in developing social skills, peer interactions, self-advocacy, and appropriate workplace or community behaviors. Monitors and documents student progress toward IEP goals and objectives and reports observations to licensed staff. Assists with feeding, toileting, diapering, and other personal care needs while maintaining student dignity, privacy, and safety. Supports students in the use of assistive technology, communication devices, visual supports, and adaptive learning tools. Reinforces functional academic skills in real-world settings, including money management, time management, scheduling, and consumer skills. Collaborates with teachers, related service providers, and other staff members to support students' educational, behavioral, and physical needs. Assists in preparing instructional materials, visual schedules, task analyses, and adapted curriculum materials for individual student needs. Supervises students during transitions between classes, work sites, community activities, and transportation to ensure safety and adherence to established routines. Maintains confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with district policies and applicable state and federal regulations. Participates in staff meetings, professional development activities, and required trainings related to special education, safety, behavior management, and student support. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, principal, or special education administrator to support student learning and program needs.

Assist guidance, pupil services staff, or building administration, as needed. Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel). Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others. Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work. Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required. Effective writing and verbal communication skills. Must Be Able to lift up to 40 lbs. Work Environment Works in standard office and school building environments. Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities. Qualifications Profile Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to: High School diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age
