Commensurate with experience Overview USU Extension in Salt Lake County is hiring Part-time Education Assistants to play a key role in ensuring a safe, engaging, and well-managed environment for children participating in our evening educational events. Individuals in this position will be responsible for working with children ranging in age from 0-11. Assignments may include providing childcare for children 5 and under, including reading, playing games, doing crafts, and other engaging one-on-one or group activities, or supporting facilitators with behavior management during workshops for elementary students. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children from diverse backgrounds and can bring energy and creativity to play while also setting limits and managing difficult behaviors. Most work will be in the evenings during the school year. Responsibilities Childcare Support Supervise children during evening workshops in a safe and welcoming environment Lead age-appropriate activities (games, crafts, quiet play, etc.) with children Ensure children are signed in/out according to program procedures Respond appropriately to children's needs, behaviors, and safety concerns Classroom Management Support Assist workshop facilitators with leading educational activities Help maintain an organized, respectful, and distraction-free environment Support transitions (arrival, activity changes, dismissal) Reinforce workshop expectations and behavioral guidelines Program Support Prepare and organize materials for children's activities Communicate effectively with parents/guardians at drop-off and pick-up Follow all program policies related to safety, confidentiality, and conduct Report any incidents or concerns to program staff Qualifications Experience working with children (babysitting, teaching, childcare, or similar) preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to manage groups of children calmly and effectively Dependable, punctual, and adaptable in a dynamic environment Access to reliable transportation to and from work sites Can work in the evenings during the school year Required Documents Along with the online application, please attach: Resume to be uploaded at the beginning of your application in the Candidate Profile under "Resume/CV" •Document size may not exceed 10 MB.•Advertised Salary Commensurate with experience ADA Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes.
