9586944-23831 Job Description Make a meaningful difference supporting a medically fragile student in a school setting near Chester, VA, by stepping into a rewarding 1:1 paraprofessional role. This contract opportunity begins with a 9-week trial period from 8/24 to 10/23 and is expected to extend through the full school year for the right fit. Youll work 32 hours per week, providing essential care and support to a student with complex medical needs. As an integral member of the educational team, youll ensure student safety and maximize their participation in the school day. Compassion, quick thinking, and hands-on experience supporting students with significant health needs are crucial for success.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

Hold a valid Virginia paraprofessional license or possess an Associates degree (or higher) as required by Virginia regulations Demonstrated experience working with medically fragile children, especially those with seizure disorders Skilled in assisting with wheelchairs, toileting, and personal care tasks Calm, attentive, and reliable when under pressure, with an ability to respond swiftly in emergencies Empathetic communicator with a student-centered mindset Committed to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Key Responsibilities:

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a medically fragile student throughout the school day Monitor health status, report changes, and respond to medical needs, including managing seizures and providing mobility assistance Collaborate closely with teachers, nurses, and staff to follow individualized care and educational plans Assist with classroom participation and facilitate social interaction among peers Help with tasks such as wheelchair transfers and toileting, ensuring student comfort and dignity If you are a caring, experienced paraprofessional in Virginia ready to make a lasting impact, interviews are taking place soon.
