School Support Aide Montessori School of McLean - 5.0 McLean, VA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $20 - $30 an hour 14 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Experience working with individuals with disabilities No experience needed Full Job Description We are looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic person to join our daughter's school team as her one-on-one support aide. Flexible scheduling is available - we are happy to consider either full-time or part-time applicants. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of a bright, engaging student by helping her fully participate in her school day alongside her classmates. Our daughter has cerebral palsy (CP) and uses a wheelchair for mobility. She has no cognitive impairments and is an active, capable learner who participates in the general education curriculum. She has difficulty speaking and communicates using AAC technology, including TD Snap and Voiceitt. She enjoys eating some foods by mouth but receives most of her nutrition through a g-tube. She is a bright, caring girl with a great sense of humor.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting access to classroom lessons by manipulating materials, turning pages, positioning supplies, and assisting with hands-on activities. Writing or typing assignments as our daughter dictates her responses. Assisting her in using her AAC devices (TD Snap and Voiceitt) to communicate with teachers and peers. No experience necessary - she will teach you! Supporting eating by mouth and assisting with g-tube feedings as needed. Providing personal care, including toileting. Encouraging independence while providing the physical assistance she needs throughout the school day. Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and school staff to support her educational goals. We're looking for someone who is: Patient, kind, dependable, and organized. Comfortable providing personal care and learning medical routines related to g-tube feeding. A strong communicator who enjoys working with children. Willing to learn and follow individualized support strategies. Experience with children, cerebral palsy, AAC, special education, healthcare, or therapy is welcome but not required. We are happy to train the right person.
