Aug 31, 2026 Job Description Westshire Elementary School in West Fairlee, VT seeks a caring and knowledgeable special education paraeducator to work with disabled students in grades K-5. Special education paraeducators provide individual, and/or small group support in basic academic skills such as reading, writing, and math, as well as support in social, emotional, and behavioral skill development. The special education paraeducator must have the ability to provide patient, compassionate, and reliable support for learners who have challenges at school. The ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with administration and teachers is imperative. The special education paraeducator must have a high level of patience, empathy, and positivity for working with students with any type of disability. Paraeducators must work collaboratively with staff and administration, on behalf of students. The special education paraeducator must work effectively as a team, and demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills. Organizational skills are essential. Associate degree or high school diploma with a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment required.
