JOB SUMMARY
Substitute paraeducators work under the direction of a teacher. They provide instructional assistance to students and monitor student behavior and safety in the classroom, at lunch, or on the playground. Substitutes for Special Education paraeducators work with severe-to-profound special needs students, and may be assigned to work with a single student or a group of students.
WORK YEAR/HOURS
Work hours will vary based on the assignment. Assignments are chosen by the substitute through our absence management system. SALARY 2026-27 Substitute Pay Rates are pending; 25-26
Sub Pay Rate:
$29.86/hour based on the ESP Salary Schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the public using tact, courtesy, and good judgment Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions, policies, and procedures Ability to demonstrate skills in reading, writing, spelling, and math computation Ability to operate standard office equipment such as a photocopier and personal computer Previous work/volunteer experience working with children Demonstrated interest and ability in working in an educational environment Ability to report to work on an on-call basis with short notice Applicants must be at least 18 years of age

satisfactory results of background checks with prior employers and/or character references; satisfactory outcome of a criminal history background check (includes fingerprinting); satisfactory outcome of sexual misconduct information from prior school district employers; and approval by the Northshore School Board.
BENEFITS
Substitutes become benefit eligible after subbing for 630 hours during the school year. Your coverage would go from the first of the month after reaching the 630 hours though 8/31.
