To provide instructional, technical, and supervisory support to staff and students in the building. Qualifications â€"
Education & Experience:
Associate degree or equivalent preferred (highly qualified status required for Title I buildings), minimum high school diploma. Ability to effectively relate with students, staff, and parents. Ability to assist with the instruction of students. Relevant subject area proficiency/expertise/knowledge preferred (i.e., reading, writing, mathematics, language arts, etc.). Ability to manage students in individual, small group, and whole group situations. Must exhibit a pleasant personality and positive attitude toward working with students, administration, staff, and community members. Knowledge of classroom management strategies and ability to provide a structured environment for students to engage in interventions. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervise and monitor students relating to before, during, and after school activities as directed by the building administrator(s). Assist the classroom teacher in supervising students under special circumstances such as field trips, individual, small group, and whole group instruction when the teacher must temporarily leave the classroom for an emergency. Assist the building Reading Specialist and/or building Intervention team with preparing, planning, and providing district interventions for reading and math. Perform tasks such as typing, laminating, recording, inventory, etc. as they related to intervention and classroom instruction. It should be noted that Paraprofessionals funded under At-Risk or Tile funds will be limited in job responsibilities based on grand funding regulations. Assist the classroom teacher with progress monitoring of students in tiered interventions. Collect and record data using district data systems, as outlined by the intervention program and district assessment calendar. Assist the classroom teacher in the planning of instructional activities. Plan, prepare, and develop various teaching aids such as charts, graphs, and other graphic organizers. Present subject matter to students utilizing variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion and/or supervised role playing. Assist in preparing, administering, and grading examinations. Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts. Attend training and meetings as applicable for Instructional Interventionist Paraprofessional. All other duties as assigned.
