Job Description
Toddler Assistant Teacher Early Childhood Development Center We are looking for a caring, energetic, and hands-on Toddler Assistant Teacher to join our Early Childhood Development Center! Our ideal candidate loves working with young children, enjoys being silly and playful, and understands that toddlers learn best through meaningful interactions, exploration, and fun. As an Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with the Lead Teacher to help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment. You will help carry out the Lead Teacher's lesson plans and daily activities while also having the freedom to adapt activities to your own teaching style, creativity, and the needs and interests of the children. What You'll Do Assist with implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities. Help toddlers develop important social-emotional skills, including sharing, communication, friendship, emotional regulation, and independence. Engage children in age-appropriate sensory experiences, hands-on activities, art, music, movement, and play. Support toddlers as they learn early childhood basics such as colors, shapes, numbers, language, routines, and self-help skills. Be actively involved with each child and build meaningful, trusting relationships. Follow the Lead Teacher's plans while bringing your own ideas, creativity, and personality into the classroom. Get down on the floor, play, explore, sing, dance, read, and learn alongside the children! Help create a classroom where children feel safe, supported, encouraged, and excited to learn. Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and classroom team. Assist with daily routines, transitions, meals, diapering/toileting, cleaning, and maintaining a safe classroom environment. Observe children's interests and developmental needs and help tailor activities and interactions accordingly. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is: Warm, patient, dependable, and nurturing. Hands-on and actively engaged with children rather than simply supervising from the sidelines. Comfortable getting messy, being playful, and having fun! Creative and willing to bring new ideas into the classroom. A strong team player who communicates well with the Lead Teacher. Flexible and comfortable adapting activities based on the needs of individual children. Passionate about helping toddlers grow socially, emotionally, and developmentally. Someone who understands that every interaction with a toddler is an opportunity to teach, encourage, and connect. The Heart of This Position This role is about much more than following a lesson plan.
