Job Description
About This Role Assistant Teacher supports Lead teacher in Montessori preschool mixed-age classroom of children ages 2years-6years old. Priority given to candidates trained in, or familiar with, Montessori educational philosophy. Position is fulltime 40h/wk, 7:45-3:45 or slight variations on that schedule as needed. Our program runs year-round, with a Fall semester, Spring semester, and Summer session. Position is hourly and offers medical, dental, and retirement. A more complete job description will be given at the time of an interview. What You'll Do Duties include cleaning, preparing, and closing the classroom, assisting the Lead Teacher, preparing lesson materials under Lead teacher direction, assisting children ages 2yo-6yo with individual work, at circle time, snacks or lunch (some food preparation required), outside or inside play, and transition times. Assistant teachers are expected to help children manage behaviors and learning under the Montessori philosophy. Requirements Some requirements must be completed prior to starting, but most can be completed within first 90d of hire. Background check through DCYF TB Test Food Handlers CPR First Aid Blood borne pathogens 30hrs Childcare Basics Course Experience within a childcare setting. Nice To Haves Priority is given to candidates with Montessori certification, training, experience, or familiarity with Montessori principles.
