THE OPPORTUNITY
The Evergreen School is seeking an engaging and compassionate individual to join our educator team. We are looking for someone with a passion for working with highly capable students and who is eager to bring creativity, energy, and passion to 4th through 8th grade classes, with placement likely in 4th grade, though assignment may vary within Grades 4-8 based on program needs. The Upper Division Teaching Assistant is responsible for supporting students in an instructional setting in either our intermediate (grades 4-5) or middle school (grades 6-8) program. The ideal candidate holds a positive mindset, is able to build strong relationships with students, and is adaptable and available to learn strategies that support students in the disciplines of language arts and math.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate regularly with grade-level teaching teams to support student goals, progress, and instructional planning. Implement instructional strategies in alignment with classroom teachers and the school's educational philosophy. Support student learning through small group instruction, one-on-one support, and whole-class assistance as directed. Provide academic support to students with diverse learning needs, in collaboration with classroom teachers and learning specialists. Substitute for classroom teachers as assigned by the Division Head. Supervise students during non-instructional times, including recess, actively supporting positive student interactions, facilitating activities, and reinforcing school expectations. Monitor student arrival and dismissal procedures, including carline/drop-off and pick-up responsibilities. Accompany and supervise students during transitions and activities outside the classroom (e.g., field trips, class changes, office visits). Maintain appropriate standards for student behavior in alignment with school policies and practices. Prioritize and uphold student health, safety, and well-being at all times. Communicate regularly with teachers, administrators, and relevant staff regarding student progress, needs, and any concerns. Inform the appropriate teacher or administrator in a timely manner of academic, behavioral, or social-emotional concerns. Support a positive and collaborative team environment across the division. Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and transitions to support effective instruction. Support the use of classroom technology and learning tools as needed. Attend and participate in required school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all school policies and professional expectations. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. A college degree or currently working towards a bachelor's degree in education is preferred. At least one year of working with upper elementary or middle school students, preferably in an educational setting. Working Conditions:
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds in connection with job duties such as assisting with classroom setup or moving materials. Ability to stand, sit, and move comfortably throughout classrooms and school hallways for extended periods. Ability to climb stairs, navigate uneven surfaces, and escort students as needed between locations within and outside school buildings. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather. Evening and weekend work may be required at times.
Position Details:
This is a salaried, non-exempt (overtime eligible), full-time (37.5 hours per week), benefits-eligible position. This position follows a 10-month schedule, paid from September to June. The salary range for Evergreen School Teaching Assistants is $ $39,690 to $47,775 per year, depending on years of experience.
