Position Title:
Kindergarten Education Support Professional (ESP)
Reports To:
Building Principal, Assistant Principal and Classroom Teacher Position Summary:
The Kindergarten Education Support Professional (ESP) assists the classroom teacher in providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for kindergarten students. The ESP works collaboratively with teachers and staff to support students' academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and physical needs throughout the school day.
Essential Responsibilities:
Support the implementation of daily classroom instruction and routines under the direction of the classroom teacher. Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic skills and classroom expectations. Assist students with literacy, math, social-emotional learning, and classroom activities. Help maintain a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment. Support students during transitions, specials, lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal. Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and maintenance of learning spaces. Reinforce behavioral expectations and support positive student behavior using school-based strategies and interventions. Provide supervision to ensure student safety at all times. Support students with personal care needs as required, including toileting, dressing, feeding, or mobility assistance, in accordance with student plans and district policies. Collaborate with teachers, specialists, counselors, and administrators to support student success. Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records. Participate in professional development and training opportunities as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervising teacher.
Qualifications:
Associate degree or proof of passing score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment. Experience working with young children in a school or childcare setting preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students, staff, and families. Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and positive interpersonal skills. Ability to support students with varying academic, behavioral, and developmental needs.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to actively supervise and engage with young children throughout the school day. Ability to lift, bend, kneel, and assist students as needed. Ability to move throughout the building and playground areas.
Terms of Employment:
School-year position in accordance with district calendar and collective bargaining agreement, if applicable. Salary and benefits established by district policy and/or negotiated agreement.
