• https://wecan.waspa.org/Vacancy/265777 Special Education Teacher Assistant - District Wide 27.5 hours/week 5.5 hours per day, with a 30-minute duty-free unpaid break period $17.51-$18.49/hour : Candidates must be licensed as a Special Ed Program Aide; or be willing to obtain licensure upon hire (at own expense). As a special education teaching assistant you will be providing instructional (academic, behavioral) and clerical support for the special education teacher. Under the direction of the teacher, you will work with students individually or in small groups. Highly qualified candidates will have a high interest in working with students with academic and behavioral challenges, background and experience working with students and experience in alternative school settings and working with students with Special Education needs. 1. A high school diploma or equivalent. 2. Ability to work effectively with individual students or small groups of students in a highly structured educational setting. 3. Ability to easily adapt to the changes and demands throughout the work day. 4. Ability to listen to and follow directions of the classroom teacher. 5. Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff, supervisors, and co-workers. 6. Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff using written and oral communication techniques. 7. Ability to organize, record, and maintain student records as assigned by the classroom teacher. 8. Ability to organize and prioritize work with minimal supervision. 9. Proficiency in basic use of computers including, but not limited to, e-mail, and internet. 10. Willingness to assist with providing medical and hygiene needs associated with the service of special education students. Collaborate with colleagues to improve the learning of all students; positively engage various stakeholders in the school and community; establish and enforce rules consistent with the student code of conduct. Agree to, abide by, and contribute to the collective commitments of the buildings they serve.
