  • $18 an hour 8 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Employee relationship building High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The Baby U/ Preschool U Assistant Teacher is a part-time, non-exempt position in the Youth Department and reports to the Youth Services Assistant Manager.
The primary purpose of the Baby U/ Preschool U Assistant Teacher is to provide a safe environment for children participating in the program. The primary responsibility is to provide a safe, positive and enjoyable environment for participants while interacting in a pleasant and professional manner. Baby U / Preschool U hours run Monday
  • Friday from 7:00 a.m.
  • 6:00 p.m. with schedule availability either for AM (7:00 a.m.
  • 1:00 p.m.) or PM (12:00 p.m.
  • 6:00 p.
m.) shifts or some full-day shift options available. Some evenings and occasional weekends may be required for events/training. Job Duties Assists with program supervision and promotes activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child enrolled in the Baby-U/Preschool Program. Alertly and actively supervises the children and provides them with undivided attention. Treats children with dignity and respect and learns and utilizes children's names. Assists with the appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom and its learning centers. Conducts cleaning of the program areas, including but not limited to: light dusting, sanitizing toys, picking up games, organizing, etc. Keeps accurate and detailed records of attendance, individual learning and accident/incident reports. Attends preschool special events including, but not limited to, concerts, art night, graduation, etc. Participates in in-service trainings, staff meetings, or other educational activities as required or assigned. Maintains positive working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, parents and participants; promotes teamwork and supports overall goals of the Youth Department. Responds in a friendly and professional manner when working with children, co-workers, parents, patron inquiries, or complaints; consistently strives to follow through or exceed the expectations of RecPlex members and prospective customers. Maintains awareness of and follows program policies, guidelines, and safety procedures including, but not limited to, check in and check out procedures, fire, tornado, lock down, etc. Leads by example and adheres to all Village & Department policies and procedures, and Village codes and ordinances. Performs other duties and special assignments as directed within the scope of the Youth Department. Physical Requires frequent public interaction and the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must be able to listen to and understand operating procedures and written directives. Work is performed in an indoor recreation environment which requires long periods of attentiveness, standing, sitting, pulling, pushing, reaching, carrying, cleaning, visual monitoring, verbal and written communication, hearing, and moderate lifting (15-50 lbs.). Educational, Certifications and Experience Minimum of 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or its equivalent Valid Driver's License (preferred) Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire.
