High School diploma or equivalent Due to the lengthy requirements for becoming Autism Mentor qualified, overall seniority outside the classification may not be the determining factor when selecting the most qualified applicant. Preference given in the following order: Those who currently hold an Autism Mentor classification and are employed as Autism Mentors for HCS
  • if multiple applicants, selection based on Autism mentor seniority Those employed by HCS who have held Autism Mentor Classification Those employed by HCS as aides who have completed all 4 standards toward Autism mentor classification by date of posting
  • if multiple applicants, selection based on aide seniority Those employed by HCS as aides who have completed standards 1,2 & 4 toward Autism mentor classification by date of posting
  • if multiple applicants, selection based on aide seniority Those employed by HCS as aide who have not met standards but are willing to complete the Standards leading to the Autism mentor classification
  • if multiple applicants, selection based on aide seniority Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate Demonstrate completion of CPR/First Aid Complete all required county and WVDE trainings The ability to perform the job duties and responsibilities as contained in the Job Description, with or without reasonable accommodations
Additional Minimum Requirements:
Applicants who have recent unsatisfactory evaluations will not be eligible for consideration. Applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not eligible for consideration. Applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations are not eligible for consideration. Applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for cause are not eligible for consideration Job description: Available at www.hardycountyschools.com or upon request. Responsibilities will also include lifting, health, personal care, and transportation responsibilities.

School Year Contract Days:
200-day contract beginning the 2026-2027 School Year Start time: Approximately 7:30 am End time: Approximately 3:30 pm Times are subject to change if transportation duties are required
Salary:
Based on the 2026-2027 salary scale commensurate with experience and education
