06/09/2026 FLSA Non-Exempt Summary The Part-Time Scribe/Reader provides academic accommodations to students with documented disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and CCC policies. This non-instructional support role ensures equitable access to assessments and classroom materials by reading exam or course content aloud and/or accurately transcribing student responses. The role requires discretion, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining academic integrity.

Position is contingent upon student accommodation needs and continued student enrollment.
  • Schedule varies based on student needs, class schedules, and quiz/exam dates; availability Monday-Friday during assigned class times and testing sessions is required.
  • Work is conducted in quiet testing rooms and/or classroom environments.
  • May involve sitting for extended periods.
  • Anticipated employment start date: 8/24/26.

Coconino Community College is a Equal Employment Opportunity Essential Duties and Responsibilities Scribe Duties Accurately transcribe verbal responses from students during quizzes, exams, or assignments without altering or correcting language. Handwrite or type responses according to student instructions and testing guidelines. Ensure all work reflects the student's original responses. Reader Duties Read exam instructions and classroom materials aloud in a clear, neutral, and consistent manner. Re-read passages or questions upon request without providing interpretation or commentary. Verbally describe charts, diagrams, or visual content as required by accommodations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General Support Duties:
Arrive punctually and remain for the full duration of scheduled sessions. Collaborate with faculty and Disability Resources staff to uphold academic integrity. Maintain strict confidentiality of student information and testing materials in accordance with FERPA. Report any issues or concerns to Disability Resources staff promptly. Provide support professionally and neutrally, without giving hints, coaching, or interpreting content. Minimum Qualifications One year of relevant experience or an associate's degree. Strong verbal communication and active listening skills. Clear, legible handwriting or the ability to type accurately and efficiently. Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and professional conduct. Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain neutrality when supporting students. Sensitivity to the needs and rights of students with disabilities. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in academic settings.
