Part-Time Afterschool Teacher / Elementary Math Tutor Ace Academy Cypress, CA Job Details Part-time $18 - $30 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications Experience teaching math Small group instruction Undergraduate level tutoring experience Working with students Geometry Algebra Student engagement classroom management Full Job Description We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Part-Time Math Teacher/Tutor and Afterschool Teacher. The instructor will teach math to students at various grade levels through small-group classes and private one-on-one lessons. Responsibilities may also include assisting students with homework and supervising students in our after-school program. Responsibilities Teach math through small-group classes and private lessons Work with students at different grade and skill levels Provide homework assistance and academic support Explain math concepts clearly and patiently Identify students' strengths and areas that need improvement Prepare lessons, worksheets, or practice materials as needed Track and communicate student progress Assist with general afterschool classroom supervision Maintain a positive, safe, and organized learning environment Communicate professionally with the director, staff, students, and parents Arrive on time and maintain a dependable work schedule Qualifications Strong knowledge of mathematics Ability to teach one or more math levels, from elementary math through middle or high school math Ability to work with both small groups and individual students Patient, encouraging, responsible, and dependable Good communication and classroom-management skills Previous teaching, tutoring, or childcare experience is preferred but not required College students and recent graduates are welcome to apply A major or background in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, Science, or a related field is preferred Must be able to work in person in Cypress, California Must be available during weekday afternoons Preferred Experience Experience teaching or tutoring any of the following subjects is preferred: Elementary Math Pre-Algebra Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 Geometry Integrated Math Precalculus or higher-level math Physics Applicants do not need to teach every math level. Please indicate the highest math level you are comfortable teaching. Schedule This is a part-time, in-person position during weekday afternoons. The exact schedule will depend on class enrollment, student needs, and the applicant's availability. Additional hours may be available for private tutoring or small-group math classes.
