8th- 9th Grade Math Tutor (Part-Time) Academic Year 2026-2027 Bright Prospect is a year-round college access and success non-profit program that empowers first-generation, low-income students to obtain a college degree through mentorship, an intentional and transformative program curriculum, and personalized counseling. Student programming begins in the 9grade of high school and continues until the successful attainment of a college degree. Additionally, Bright Prospect supports academic tutoring for 8th-grade students in the Pomona Unified School District. Bright Prospect is looking for part-time college/alumni students to support in 8th-9th grade math tutoring for students in need at all Pomona Unified School District middle and high schools. Bright Prospect offers in-person tutoring for 8th-9th-grade students at their respective middle/high school campuses during class time. Bright Prospect tutors will report to the program director and assist 8th-9th graders with math.

The ideal candidate will:

▪ Foster a warm, welcoming, and positive environment for all stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, and partners.

▪ Facilitate one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in 8th-9th grade math in person.

▪ Provide side-by-side math support for students on-site in 8th-9th grade classrooms during the regular school day in support of the teacher.

▪ Know 8th-9th grade math to provide innovative learning strategies to help students grow their understanding of their current math curriculum.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

▪ Must be working towards a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

▪ Tutoring experience is strongly preferred.

▪ Knowledgeable in 8th-9th grade math concepts, including but not limited to linear equations, linear functions, integer exponents, scientific notation, etc.

▪ Experience working directly with student groups from underserved communities is strongly desired.

▪ Ability to work in a collaborative environment

▪ Must possess a valid CA driver's license and access to reliable transportation

▪ Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting)

▪ Some classroom experience is preferred

COMPENSATION

$18.50/hr

HOURS:
