Tutors may consult with faculty for course resources, guidance, and direction in their tutoring work. Tutors host regularly scheduled weekly drop-in sessions outside of class or clinic hours. Peer tutors do not provide answers to homework assignments but rather work with students to model problem solving strategies and explain course-specific concepts in compliance with university academic integrity standards. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to communicate effectively in English. Language ability to compose clear and concise reports. The ability to effectively, professionally and tactfully interact and communicate with students, faculty, administrators and staff members as necessary. The ability to manage projects and assignments in an efficient and effective manner. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, the internet and email and the ability to learn other technology necessary for the position. The ability to effectively gather information from a variety of sources, compile and analyze information. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.
