Job Description:
We're seeking a dependable, compassionate, and patient aide to provide one-on-one support to a 9-year-old fourth-grade student with autism during the school day. The aide will accompany him at school, help him stay engaged and focused, and support classroom routines and transitions.
Responsibilities include:
Providing one-on-one support throughout the school day Helping with focus, attention, and classroom participation Encouraging positive social interactions and appropriate communication Assisting with transitions between activities and classroom routines Providing basic academic support appropriate for a fourth-grade student, including reading, English, and math Helping reinforce basic academic concepts and assisting with schoolwork in a patient and encouraging manner Communicating with the teacher and parents as needed Supporting a positive, respectful, and encouraging school experience No prior autism experience is required. Guidance and support will be provided.
Qualifications:
Reliable, patient, kind, and comfortable working with children Basic knowledge of fourth-grade academics, particularly reading, English, and math Able to explain basic academic concepts clearly and patiently Comfortable working in a Catholic school environment and respectful of the school's Catholic educational values Must be able to pass any required school background screening CPR/First Aid certification is a plus Previous experience as a teacher's aide, nanny, behavioral aide, caregiver, tutor, or childcare provider is preferred
