Learning Plus Tutoring

Reading and Writing Tutor

Job Description

Do you love working with children and have a positive, fun-loving personality? We need eager and capable one-on-one tutors that can work with school-age students in multiple subject areas including reading, writing, and comprehension. If you can also teach math, you are an ideal candidate! These positions are in-person, but you may be asked to do virtual sessions, as well. I am looking specifically for a tutor that can teach younger students in a variety of subjects including phonics, comprehension, writing, and possibly math. I prefer an instructor that has experience teaching phonics. You must be willing to spend time being trained to correctly administer our programs, be intelligent and well-versed in how to teach young people and hold them accountable, be ready to start tutoring on day one, and have impeccable oral and written communication. You must have experience teaching or tutoring, preferably with a college degree or teaching credential.
Please note:
I do not hire high school students as one-on-one tutors. Hours are typically after 1:00 or 2:00 pm on weekdays and morning/afternoon on Saturdays. The ability to work Saturday is a requirement for all of my new hires. Our tutors must be excited about education and willing to work hard. This position is not just homework help. We have effective programs that you will be required to train on and learn to administer, but you should be able to start tutoring right away. It is more rigorous than a typical tutoring job, but you will have ample opportunity to shadow, study, and be trained. You must be able to start immediately and have reliable transportation. Pay ranges based on experience and abilities . If you have a teaching credential or are a professional with a degree already, your starting rate will be higher. We have a raise structure based on performance, availability, and student retention. I am looking for serious applicants only with prior experience tutoring students and/or working with children. I test all of our applicants during the interview process , so if you do not have the aforementioned skills or experience, please refrain from applying . I am looking for serious applicants only with prior experience tutoring students and/or working with children that can stay in the position for at least two years .
