Full Job Description Description:
The Afterschool Program Tutor must have the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCA mission, goals, and visions for serving the community. The Afterschool Program Tutor will be responsible for: Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring to students in core subjects such as math, reading, and writing. Support students during designated homework time, helping with comprehension and problem-solving. Create engaging and age-appropriate learning activities that reinforce school-day learning. Assist in tracking student academic progress and communicating needs or concerns to site leaders. Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all students. Collaborate with afterschool staff to ensure a consistent and supportive program culture. Help with student supervision during transitions, snack, and other program components as needed. Follow all school, district, and program policies regarding student safety, confidentiality, and behavior management.
Requirements:
High school diploma 48 college units completed Experience working with children or youth in an educational or afterschool setting. Strong knowledge of elementary or middle school curriculum. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to relate well to diverse groups of students and maintain a positive attitude. Must pass background check and meet any school district clearance requirements. Must be available between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM (exact hours may vary by site). Work takes place at school sites
