Job Description:
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated in-person literacy tutor with expertise in Orton-Gillingham instructional methods to support students in developing strong reading skills. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of teaching experience and a strong commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one or small group reading instruction to students of various ages and reading levels. Utilize Orton-Gillingham methods and other evidence-based techniques to develop personalized learning plans for each student. Assess students' reading abilities and create tailored lesson plans to address their specific needs and challenges. Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment to enhance students' confidence and motivation. Track and report on students' progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to provide feedback on students' performance and progress. Stay current on best practices in reading instruction and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field. Orton-Gillingham training or certification is required. Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, preferably with a focus on reading instruction. Strong knowledge of various reading assessments and diagnostic tools. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with students on an individual level. Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a consistent tutoring schedule.

$60.00 per hour Application Question(s): What additional trainings or certifications have you received? Have you received 30+ hours of formal Orton-Gillingham training through an IDA-accredited program? If not, your application will not be considered.
