Full time Academic Tutor / Mentor (High School Students) - Fisher Island, Miami, FL Private Family Seeking Experienced Academic Tutor/Mentor A private family in Miami is seeking a highly qualified Academic Tutor/Mentor to support two motivated high school students (Freshman and Junior). This position is ideal for an experienced educator, tutor, academic coach, or graduate-level professional with strong expertise in advanced math and science, as well as exceptional organizational and mentoring skills. Position Overview This role combines high-level academic tutoring with educational mentorship and oversight. The successful candidate will help students excel in challenging coursework while fostering strong study habits, accountability, time management, and academic independence.
Responsibilities Provide tutoring support in:
Advanced Mathematics, including Calculus Chemistry Physics AP-level coursework Assist with daily homework assignments and long-term projects Monitor academic progress and performance Manage assignments, upcoming projects, and deadlines through the school's online portal Help students prepare for quizzes, tests, and exams Develop effective study strategies and organizational systems Oversee academic scheduling and workload management Serve as a positive mentor and role model Foster accountability, organization, and strong academic habits Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred Extensive tutoring, teaching, or academic coaching experience Strong proficiency in advanced math and science subjects Experience supporting AP-level coursework Exceptional organizational and time-management skills Ability to motivate, mentor, and build rapport with high school students Professional, dependable, and proactive Spanish proficiency strongly preferred , but not required as both students are enrolled in Spanish courses Schedule Sunday-Thursday Sunday sessions are typically held in the morning 10am-12pm Weekday hours are generally 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Hours may increase or decrease based on academic demands Follows the students' school calendar Location Fisher Island, Miami, Florida Travel to Fisher Island is required Travel expenses are covered Qualified candidates with strong academic credentials, advanced STEM expertise, and mentoring experience are encouraged to apply.
