Tutor / Academic Coach in or near Hollywood, FL Academic Strides Hollywood, FL Job Details Contract $25 - $40 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Basic math Teaching Certification English Working with students Literacy education Parent-teacher conferences (communication methods) Full Job Description We are seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and reliable K-5 English, Reading, and Math tutors and academic coaches (SAT/ACT, college admissions) to join our team as independent contractors. Ideal candidates are passionate about education, skilled in their subject area, and committed to helping students excel. This role offers flexibility, competitive pay, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' lives.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one or small group instruction tailored to students' individual learning needs. Develop personalized lesson plans and strategies to address specific academic challenges and goals. Deliver effective tutoring/academic coaching sessions that engage students, address individual learning needs, and build subject mastery through clear instruction, guided practice, and ongoing feedback. Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and families. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding students' achievements and areas for improvement. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of academic standards, curriculum requirements, and standardized test formats. Utilize technology (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom, educational apps) to enhance virtual or hybrid learning experiences when applicable.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher in education, a subject-specific field, or a related area preferred. Previous Experience in Tutoring preferred). Proficiency in one or more academic subjects (e.g., math, English, reading) and/or standardized test preparation (e.g., SAT/ACT, Teacher Certification) Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles and needs. Reliable internet access and familiarity with virtual teaching tools (for remote sessions). Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate students' schedules. Background check clearance (required prior to starting).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with curriculum design or educational planning. Familiarity with college admissions processes, essay coaching, or related services. Certifications in education, tutoring, or test preparation (e.g., English, Reading, Math, SAT/ACT tutoring certifications).
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates ($25 - $40/hour) based on experience and subject expertise. Opportunities for rate increases based on performance and client satisfaction.
