City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students' academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects Support teachers with classroom activities and learning interventions Monitor and track student progress using established tools Build positive, mentoring relationships with students Collaborate with school staff and City Year team on student support plans Promote an inclusive, safe, and encouraging learning environment Engage families and communities when appropriate to support students Participate in training, coaching, and professional development Model leadership, service, and social-emotional skills for students Support school-wide events, activities, and initiatives as needed Required Skills Academic tutoring (ELA/math) Lesson reinforcement Classroom management support Student data tracking Behavior management Mentoring and coaching youth Small-group instruction One-on-one intervention Progress monitoring tools Basic computer skills (Google/Microsoft)
