City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students' academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects Support teachers with classroom management and instructional activities Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and positive school habits Track and report student progress using basic data tools Communicate regularly with teachers and school staff about student needs Support attendance, homework, and enrichment initiatives Participate in City Year training, coaching, and professional development Collaborate with a diverse Ameri Corps team to plan and deliver student supports Engage families and community partners when appropriate Model professionalism, inclusivity, and commitment to social justice in school settings Required Skills Tutoring in math Tutoring in reading/writing Classroom support Youth mentoring Basic data entry and progress tracking Communication with students, families, and staff Classroom management support Time management and organization Basic computer literacy (G Suite/Microsoft Office) Cultural competency and working with diverse communities
