Job Description
Executive Function & Academic Support Tutor — Math, Reading & Language Arts Power Plus Tutoring is seeking an experienced Executive Function and Academic Support Tutor to work one-on-one with a student who requires structured, individualized academic support. This position requires someone who can manage and consistently implement the student's learning accommodations while providing direct academic support in Math and Language Arts.
The tutor will support:
Executive Function:
organization, planning, assignment management, study skills, time management, task initiation, and completionMathematics:
reinforce classroom concepts using explicit, scaffolded instructionReading:
decoding, reading accuracy, fluency, and comprehensionLanguage Arts/Writing:
structured writing, organization of ideas, editing, and written-expression supportSchool Organization:
daily planner, upcoming assignments/tests, prioritization, checklists, and breaking larger assignments into manageable stepsAccommodations:
use visual schedules, graphic organizers, multimodal instruction, audiobooks/text-to-speech or speech-to-text when appropriate, extended-time strategies, and step-by-step scaffolding Ideal Candidate Bachelor's degree required. We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in Special Education, Exceptional Student Education (ESE), Reading/Structured Literacy, Learning Disabilities, Educational Psychology, or Elementary/Middle School Education with significant intervention experience. Experience supporting students with executive-function challenges, ADHD, dyslexia/reading difficulties, written-language difficulties, or learning disabilities is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate should be comfortable supporting both Math and Language Arts and understand that the role is not simply homework help. The tutor will be responsible for helping the student develop systems for organization, independent learning, study skills, and effective use of accommodations across subjects.
