Job Description

After-School Program Tutor - Part-Time Alper JCC Miami is seeking a patient, engaging, and dependable Tutor to provide academic support to elementary and middle school students in our After-School Care Program. We are looking for someone who can provide meaningful homework help and academic reinforcement while helping students build confidence, strengthen skills, and become more independent learners.
Responsibilities:
Provide homework assistance and academic support. Help students understand assignments and concepts rather than simply providing answers. Support reading, writing, math, and other core academic subjects. Work individually and with small groups of students. Reinforce positive study habits, organization, and independent learning skills. Provide additional academic reinforcement when needed. Maintain a patient, encouraging, and positive learning environment. Collaborate with Aftercare staff regarding students who may need additional support.
Qualifications:
Certified teacher, experienced educator, or similar academic background strongly preferred. Experience tutoring or working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred. Strong knowledge of reading, writing, and math fundamentals. Ability to explain concepts in different ways based on a student's individual needs. Patient, dependable, encouraging, and comfortable working with children. Education majors and individuals with significant classroom or tutoring experience are encouraged to apply. Must meet all required background screening and program requirements.
Schedule:
Part-time, Monday-Friday during after-school hours
