As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year, you'll serve full-time in a partner public school, providing individualized and small-group academic support in core subjects, fostering students' social-emotional skills, and promoting consistent attendance. You will collaborate closely with teachers to track progress, differentiate support, and create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment. In this AmeriCorps role, you'll join a diverse, mission-driven team focused on educational equity, leadership development, and personal growth, while gaining professional training and hands-on experience in education. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects during and after school. Support students' social-emotional development and goal-setting through regular mentoring. Collaborate with teachers to identify students' needs and track academic progress. Assist in managing classroom activities and creating an inclusive, engaging learning environment. Lead or support enrichment, attendance, and after-school programs to increase student engagement. Use data and teacher feedback to adjust interventions and document student growth. Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year teammates to coordinate student support. Model positive behavior, professionalism, and a commitment to educational equity. Participate in City Year training, reflection, and leadership development sessions. Engage families and school community partners when appropriate to support student success.
