Reading Tutor / Dyslexia Intervention Tutor (In Person - St. Petersburg, FL) TLC Dyslexia Services is seeking a detail-oriented individual with a background or strong interest in education to train as a dyslexia intervention tutor. This is a part-time, professional position with structured training provided in the Barton Reading & Spelling System. This position requires in-person tutoring in St. Petersburg, FL and availability during both school-day hours and after-school hours, as we support students in both school settings and after-school sessions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys patient, step-by-step teaching and takes pride in helping students build skills gradually. It is especially meaningful for those who want to make a lasting difference in a child's confidence and academic growth. TLC Dyslexia Services provides high-quality, research-based dyslexia intervention. We also support dyslexia-related needs in math, written composition, and handwriting through structured, evidence-based instruction. Tutors follow lesson procedures carefully to support measurable student progress. This position requires consistency, professionalism, and the ability to apply structured teaching methods with care.

Responsibilities:

Deliver one-on-one structured literacy instruction Follow lesson procedures with consistency Track student progress carefully Communicate professionally with families Participate in paid training sessions

Qualifications:

Background or strong interest in education (elementary, reading, or special education preferred) Strong attention to detail Reliable and professional Available for in-person tutoring during both school-day hours and after-school hours (required) Weekday morning availability for school-based sessions At least 4 weekday afternoons for after-school sessions Able to commit to approximately 6 students (about 12 hours per week) Interested in a longer-term role (approximately one year or more) Willing to work in person in both home office and school settings Willing to pursue Barton tutor certification as part of employment This role is ideal for a future educator or someone transitioning into structured literacy and evidence-based intervention.
