Job Description

Part-Time Student Academic Coach - STEAM & Youth Mentoring Raising Expectations - Atlanta Police Foundation's At-Promise Centers This is an ideal part-time position for a current upperclassman, recent graduate, or graduate student weighing career options in STEAM, Education, Nonprofit Management, Sociology, or Psychology. Use your college experience to impact the lives of middle and high school students in an under-served Atlanta Public Schools cluster.
Compensation & Time Commitment:
Pay Rate:
$17.00 to $19.50 per hour
Schedule:
Part-time, 15-20 hours per week.
Core Hours:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 3:00 PM-8:00 PM.
Additional Commitment:
Average of one to two Saturdays or after-hours activities per month. Required Qualifications To be considered for this mission-critical role, applicants MUST meet the following requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (must be in progress at a minimum; completed preferred).
Youth Experience:
Prior experience leading youth development programs or comfortable working with children in grades 5-12 .
Availability:
Available for the full part-time schedule, including consistent weekday afternoon/evening hours.
Software:
Comfortable utilizing web-based collaborative and project management software. Core Responsibilities The SAL role involves leading program implementation, curriculum development, and student management: I.
Program & Curriculum STEAM Leadership:
Develop rich, interdisciplinary, STEAM lessons and hands-on, project-based activities.
Tutor Guidance:
Guide strategic tutors as they implement STEAM material into tutoring sessions.
Behavior Management:
Manage and lead the implementation of 'Raising Expectations' Behavioral Modification Model.
Administrative:
Prepare materials, maintain student academic files, and complete designated daily maintenance tasks. II.
Student & Stakeholder Engagement Supervision:
Supervise volunteers in the implementation of diverse tactics to teach STEAM concepts.
Learning Plans:
Develop and monitor participant learning plans to ensure programmatic goals are met.
Mentoring:
Provide tutoring support and use life/college experience to mentor students.
Community:
Attend and supervise community service and/or enrichment activities (average of one to two Saturdays per month).
Communication:
Communicate with all stakeholders (including families and partners) about RE programs. Soft Skills for Success Possesses strong emotional intelligence (EQ). Takes initiative and is an effective multi-tasker. Reliable/dependable leader who is self-motivated and driven. Possesses excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
