Job Description

We are looking for individuals to work with youth in grades K-12 (availability of specific age groups of children changes over time). Work hours are M-F, primarily afternoons/evenings (between 2pm-9pm). The employee creates their own schedule based on availability. Experience working with youth is preferred but not required. We are looking for motivated, organized individuals with positive attitudes to work on our team.
GENERAL DUTIES
  • Overseeing the completion of their student's daily assignments.
  • Assessing academic needs using diagnostic assessments provided by the company.
  • Developing measurable, attainable goals with clients and creating plans to achieve them.
  • Help client develop confidence and competence in academic professional and social skills.
  • Attend Child and Family Team Meetings outside of tutoring sessions (typically occurs once every 3-4 months. will be compensated).
  • Document notes, keep track of meeting times, write monthly reports.
  • Complete any paperwork as assigned by the Lead staff/Office manager.
LOCATION
  • The job is performed primarily in the community (i.e., in home, Growing Minds, local library).
  • The job location is based on the family's living arrangements and public locations available.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree OR 60 completed credit hours required.
  • Must have knowledge/skills in core subjects of English/language arts (reading, writing) and mathematics (up to Algebra II/Geometry preferred).
  • Must have problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be organized and have knowledge of various methods of note-taking and studying.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) are required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass all required background checks (fingerprinting, CPS/CPI)
  • Must own and know how to operate a personal computer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Abilities to verbally speak and hear, have the dexterity of hands and fingers, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to legally transport clients (if necessary).
