A Tutor works with students who need additional help or review. Provides instruction in an academic subject, or reviews a particular class lesson, or assists with preparing for a test. Works with students one-on-one or in a small group, and usually meets with students outside of school.
Boost K-6 literacy outcomes at Americana by adding a dedicated On‑Site Literacy Success Coach to coordinate and quality‑assure tutoring, engage families, and lead family engagement nights. By embedding this role at Americana, the coach connects the dots between kids, tutors, and families, tightening attendance, grouping, fidelity, and real‑time support.

Schedule:
September 14 - May 21 2026 (following Americana's programming calendar), Monday-Friday 3:30-6:30pm , Approximately 15 hours per week, paid bi-weekly via direct deposit Key ResponsibilitiesOn-Site Program Support & Supervision Identify children most in need of tutoring using school/club assessments; create data‑informed groupings. Provide on-site supervision during tutoring sessions delivered by tutors. Build and maintain the tutoring schedule; coordinate and coach tutors. Support smooth day-to-day implementation of the literacy tutoring program. Track attendance, progress, and flags; communicate with families to encourage participation. Serve as a point of contact between IWRBR, Americana staff, and other community partners. Troubleshoot challenges and support consistency, attendance, and engagement. Tutor Coaching & Modeling & Tutoring Offer ongoing coaching and support to tutors in collaboration with IWRBR leadership. Model literacy strategies, instructional routines, and student engagement techniques rooted in the science of reading. Reinforce trauma-responsive and culturally sustaining practices within tutoring sessions. Plan and implement tutoring services when needed (tutor not assigned or present) Collaboration & Communication Collaborate closely with Americana staff to integrate literacy into after-school programming. Embedded, on‑site presence that serves as the "glue" linking supports among kids, tutors, and families. Participate in check-ins with IWRBR and partner organizations. Share observations, feedback, and program updates to support continuous improvement. Qualifications Required Experience in literacy, education, tutoring coordination, or youth development. Strong understanding of the science of reading and evidence-based literacy practices. Experience supporting or coaching educators, tutors, or youth-serving staff. Strong relationship-building and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across multiple partner organizations. Preferred Experience in out-of-school time or after-school settings. Background in family engagement or community-based programming. Familiarity with trauma-responsive or equity-centered instructional practices.
