Job Description

Join us for the 2026-2027 school year.

Bullitt Central High School is seeking a highly qualified instructional tutor to provide supports across content areas (reading, writing, and math interventions, carryover supports to science and social studies) to students in tiered interventions for behavior and/or academics.

The successful candidate must be:

Knowledgeable of behavior interventions

Knowledgeable of and able to implement best instructional practices Able to partner with the MTSS coach, instructional coach, certified classroom teachers, and other classified instructional assistants in a collaborative setting to support the learning of struggling students

Self-initiating

Able to instruct and work independently without direct supervision

Positive

Flexible

Patient

Team worker

Regular in attendance and punctual

Good with details and record keeping

Organized

Supportive of the total school program

Knowledge of trauma informed and restroative practices preferred.

Position Details Hours:

6 hours per day (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)

Contract Length:

183 days per year 170 student instructional days

4 holidays

7 planning days

2 extended days

Contract Adjustments:

Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date

Employment Status:

Full-time with benefits

Employment Type:

10-month employee on the classified pay schedule

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

Must have at least 64 college credits and a 2.5 GPA.

Documentation:

Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.

Compensation & Experience Credit

2026-2027 Pay Scale

Starting Pay (Step 0): $24.63/hour Experienced Pay (Step 10): $26.97/hour

We value experience! Previous experience working with students, intervention systems, and small-group instruction is strongly desired.

New hires may bring up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.

The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.

Payroll Note:

While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.

Salary Formula:

Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary. Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay
