Lafayette Afternoon Teacher/Tutor Martina Domino Writes LLC Lafayette, LA Job Details Contract $25 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications In-person tutoring Teaching Certification Math Working with students Literacy education Associate's degree Student-centered approaches (student motivation techniques) Full Job Description K-5 Literacy & Math Tutors - $25/Hour | 1099 Contractor Martina Domino Writes LLC is seeking dependable, student-centered tutors to provide K-5 literacy and/or mathematics tutoring in small-group settings.
Current hiring areas:
Lafayette and surrounding areas. Tutoring opportunities may include private-pay students and students participating in approved government-funded tutoring programs. Sessions will be offered in person at a public library or school. Tutors will provide small-group instruction to up to four students per session. This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Tutoring assignments are based on student enrollment, subject area, location, schedule, qualifications, and program eligibility. Hours are not guaranteed.
Pay:
$25 per instructional hour Responsibilities Provide engaging small-group K-5 literacy and/or math tutoring for up to four students per session Use provided or approved instructional materials Support students in targeted academic skills Maintain accurate attendance and tutoring-session documentation Complete required session notes and timesheets Communicate professionally with students, families, and Martina Domino Writes LLC Arrive on time and maintain a consistent tutoring schedule Follow all student-safety, confidentiality, and program requirements Steve Carter Tutor Qualification Requirements Tutors participating in the Steve Carter Tutoring Program must meet at least one of the following: Hold a valid teaching certificate in elementary education, reading, or mathematics; OR Hold an associate or bachelor's degree; OR Be a paraprofessional; OR Be a student currently pursuing a degree at a postsecondary institution Documentation may include a teaching certificate, diploma, transcript, degree verification, employment verification, current class schedule, or enrollment verification. Additional Training Requirements Literacy tutors must have successfully completed a department-approved Science of Reading training. Math tutors must have successfully completed a department-approved numeracy training. Documentation verifying completion will be required for government-funded assignments. Additional Requirements Must be at least 18 years old Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred Strong communication and professionalism Reliable transportation to assigned tutoring locations Ability to maintain student confidentiality Must successfully complete an approved background check Must complete a W-9 and required contractor onboarding documents Must be able to consistently report to assigned in-person tutoring sessions Background Check Contractors are responsible for the initial cost of the required approved background check. The approved background-check cost will be reimbursed after 60 consecutive days of active service, provided the contractor remains in good standing and submits proof of payment. Government-Funded Tutoring Payment Information Some tutoring assignments are funded through government reimbursement programs. For these assignments, tutoring sessions must be completed, documented, verified, and approved through the applicable program. Contractor payment for government-funded assignments is issued 60 days after the applicable invoice/session documentation is approved for payment by the government program. Applicants should be comfortable with this payment structure before accepting government-funded assignments. Employment Type Independent Contractor - 1099 Compensation $25.00 per instructional hour Schedule Part-time and flexible scheduling. Most opportunities will be available after school, during the early evening, and on select weekends, depending on student enrollment and location.
