Job Description:
The primary responsibility of the Biology/Chemistry tutor is to provide one-on-one or group support to students in who are currently enrolled in science courses. The tutor's work is informed by best practices and the mission of TASC. The Professional Biology/Chemistry Tutor will also be responsible for the following: Assisting students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic assignments. Demonstrating academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments, including research and writing. Working with students to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom. Providing students positive and constructive feedback. Building meaningful connections with students from diverse backgrounds. Attending staff meetings several times each semester.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or a related area is required. Fluency in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole in addition to English desired. Ability to work independently. Proven ability to work with a faculty, staff, and student population. One tutor focusing mostly on biology, anatomy and physiology, and any health science disciplines is needed Monday and Thursday 9am to 5pm in-person on the Chelsea campus. One tutor focusing mostly on chemistry and organic chemistry is needed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 4 pm-7 pm on the Charlestown campus; ability to also work online weekend hours a plus.
Preferred Requirements:
Master's degree is preferred. 1+ years of tutoring or related experience preferred.
Additional Information:
Salary:
$35.31 an hour at 16 hours a week. Part-Time Non-Benefited Position.
