About the Position Salem Public Schools is seeking full time instructional tutors to provide additional instruction and support to our elementary school students in literacy and math. Tutors deliver individual and small group instruction and work with educators at the school to target instruction. Responsibilities and Timelines Provides individual and small group instruction and practice. Plans tutoring sessions based on recent data, classroom observations, and teacher consultation. Provides progress-monitoring for students receiving additional supports. Maintains a weekly schedule; collaborates with interventionists, coaches, classroom teachers, and provides coverage for teachers so that they can meet with instructional coaches to strengthen Tier 1 instruction. Other duties as assigned. Total Compensation $31.08 to $36.08 Essential Attributes Holds an unwavering belief that every student in Salem can grow and succeed. Has a strong work ethic, is self-directed, and has the ability to work independently. Self-reflects and accepts feedback with a growth mindset. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred. Teaching certification preferred. Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency a plus. Proficiency in a teaching/tutoring capacity as acquired through prior experiences tutoring, teaching, or other education-related experiences. Current authorization to work in the United States.

Work Year:
Full-time Tutors in Salem Public Schools work a 185 day school year (180 student contact days plus 5 professional development days. Please click here to view the 2026-27 district and/or school calendars.
Salary:
Full-time Tutor salaries in the Salem Public Schools are determined by the Paraprofessional and School Related Personnel (PSRP) collective bargaining agreement (2024-2027). Salary information can be found in Appendix A.
