Job Description

Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide daily in-class and small-group tutoring in core subjects (e.g., math, English, reading) Mentor and coach students to build social-emotional skills and positive behaviors Support teachers with classroom management, lesson implementation, and learning activities Monitor and encourage student attendance and engagement Assist with planning and leading after-school programs and enrichment activities Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and teammates to track student progress Collect and record data on student performance and attendance Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and professional development sessions Engage families and guardians as appropriate to support student success Support and help coordinate school-wide events and service projects Tutoring and academic support (literacy and math) Classroom support and management assistance Youth mentoring and coaching Data entry and basic progress monitoring Basic lesson and activity planning Written and verbal communication Team collaboration and relationship-building Conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques Time management and organization Cultural humility and working with diverse communities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member Ability to pass background checks required by AmeriCorps and school district U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident (AmeriCorps eligibility)
