Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a vital support role making a real impact for students in classrooms near Flint, MI for the 2026-2027 school year. Several contract opportunities are now open for those passionate about educational assistance, with full-time schedules (37.5 hours per week) and placements across elementary, middle, and high schools. Assignments range from working one-on-one with students in self-contained and resource settings (serving those with cognitive or emotional impairments) to supporting students in general education environments. Key responsibilities also include providing day-to-day care—for example, assisting with toileting and personal needs for students with cognitive impairments—helping ensure each learner receives the support they require.
Qualifications include:
At least 60 semester hours of college credit, or an associate degree (or higher), OR a passing score on the ETS Parapro Assessment (minimum 460), OR SAT scores of at least 480 in evidence-based reading/writing and 530 in math. A copy of your official university transcripts is required before being presented to the district. Dedication to working with students of all ages and abilities. Flexibility to be placed wherever need is greatest in Flint-area schools.
Day-to-day duties:
Provide instructional and non-instructional classroom support. Assist students with personal and educational needs. Support classroom teachers in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment. Foster an inclusive atmosphere for students with a wide range of abilities.
