Job Description
Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects Support classroom instruction under the direction of teachers Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and positive behaviors Track and report student progress using program tools and data systems Plan and lead school-wide activities, events, and enrichment programs Collaborate with City Year teammates and school staff on student support plans Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Engage families and community partners when appropriate to support students Model City Year's values of inclusivity, equity, and respect in all interactions Support service days and community impact projects organized by City Year Tutoring and academic support Classroom management support Youth mentoring Basic data entry and progress monitoring Written and verbal communication Collaboration and teamwork Time management and reliability Cultural competency and equity mindset Conflict resolution and de-escalation Basic technology skills (email, documents, spreadsheets) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or legal resident) Ability to pass background checks required for work in schools Completion of City Year/AmeriCorps pre-service training
