Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking a patient, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable Elementary Language Arts Tutor to provide individualized instruction in a private tutoring office. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in reading and writing instruction and enjoy helping elementary students build confidence, improve academic skills, and develop a lifelong love of reading and learning. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one language arts tutoring to elementary-age students. Assess students' reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and comprehension skills. Develop individualized tutoring plans based on each student's needs and academic goals. Provide support with reading fluency, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and written expression. Help students strengthen grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and foundational writing skills. Support students with homework, school assignments, and preparation for assessments. Use engaging books, activities, writing exercises, and other instructional materials to reinforce skills. Teach students strategies for becoming more confident and independent readers and writers. Monitor and document student progress. Communicate student progress and areas of concern to parents and the tutoring office. Adapt instruction to accommodate different learning styles, abilities, and academic levels. Create a positive, encouraging, and professional tutoring environment. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Language Arts, Reading, or a related field preferred. Strong knowledge of elementary reading and language arts skills. Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or experience working with children preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, and writing skills. Patient, encouraging, and able to establish positive relationships with students. Ability to explain concepts clearly using age-appropriate language. Ability to individualize instruction based on student needs. Reliable, professional, organized, and dependable. Teaching certification is preferred but not required for this tutoring position. What We Offer Supportive and professional private tutoring environment.
