Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit Provide one-on-one tutorial services to TRiO Talent Search participants. Assist Talent Search students by observing and mentoring. Provide assistance and leadership during tutor training sessions, study skills seminars, and STEM related workshops. Reports to Program Director, TRiO. Description of Work
- Tutors TRiO participants, specifically participants in STEM related majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and English.
- Assist at tutor training sessions, study skills workshops, etc.; may be required to conduct presentations on various topics.
- Provide feedback to TRiO participants using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, and build confidence.
- Maintain accurate records of tutorial session outcomes
- Organize tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning.
- Maintains confidentiality of departmental documentation and issues.
- Other duties as assigned by Program Director, TRiO Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position Have excellent leadership, supervisory and interpersonal skills Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, low-income and first-generation Be flexible, enthusiastic and friendly Be familiar with laws relating to minors
- License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
- Bachelors Degree required.
- Teaching experience.
