Posting Details Position Information Position Title Project Tutor, Upward Bound - PTT - Fairbury Department Student Support Program Location Beatrice Job Category Support Staff Job Type PT Posting Number 02164 Position End Date Position Summary Information General Description of Position Under the general direction and supervision of the TRIO Director, the Project Tutor is responsible for the academic portions and/or social/cultural development portions of the Upward Bound Academic Year. This is a part-time temporary position working 10-15 hours per month within the academic year (August - May). Essential Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide academic assistance in a group environment in various academic areas and at various academic levels. Provide support and guidance to high school students with academic and/or social needs. Provide student supervision. Maintain and turn in accurate documentation for student attendance and program needs. Provide effective, positivemunication to students. Promote a Culture of Belonging Support and promote an environment of belonging w all students, faculty members, and college employees feel weed, valued, and empowered to contribute. Foster amunity w each individual and their varied perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe and respectful environment. Support the College's policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities for all. Marginal Functions Motivate students and serve as an outstanding role model. May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required. Perform other College functions and duties as assigned. Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Ability tomunicate effectively both in writing and in person. Knowledge and ability to provide academic assistance in various academic areas and academic levels, as well as support and guide high school students with various academic and/or social needs. Ability to work independently with students and under the direction of project staff. Demonstrated proficiency in basic study skills and expertise in a specified course or area of study. Ability to use basicputer skills. The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable amodation, using some otherbination of skills and abilities. Minimum Qualifications Completion of 24 credits from a post-secondary institution in education, social sciences, or related fields. Desired Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, or related field from an accredited college or university. Classroom or related experience working with low-ie, first-generation high school students is preferred. Salary $15.00 per hour Benefits Part-time temporary employees are eligible to participate in the TIAA retirement plan through a Roth, SRA, or 457(B) account, with no match provided by the College. Schedule This is a part-time temporary position working 10-15 hours per month within the academic year (August - May).
