Job Description
The commitment for this role is: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:30am-3:30pm and Wednesday from 8:30am-4:30pm No Fridays This commitment is from August 17th to June 25th. The role pays $25/hour .

These logistical requirements and schedule are firm; we are only able to consider candidates who can fully commit to these days and hours. Join a school where teachers stay—19 out of 20 staff members returned for 2025-26. Conveniently located just a 5-10 minute walk from Journal Square PATH (15-20 minutes to Manhattan). This work is hard and requires optimism and collaboration; chronic negativity or a deficit based mindset will not be a good fit for our school culture. Role Overview We are seeking dedicated and passionate Part-Time Tutors to join our charter middle school and provide small group instruction to our students (Grades 6-8). The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students of middle school ages. This role involves working closely with learners to enhance their understanding of math, humanities, and project-based learning, utilizing effective teaching strategies and learning technologies. The Part-Time Tutor will play a crucial role in supporting our Kindle students to thrive. Duties Provide individualized tutoring sessions and classroom support tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards. Utilize learning technology and resources to enhance the educational experience. Assess student progress and adapt instructional methods accordingly. Create a supportive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes student engagement and motivation. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other educational professionals to support student success. Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress regularly. Experience Bachelor's degree required. Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, preferably in an academic setting. Strong math and humanities skills and ability to explain concepts clearly to middle school students. Interest in supporting project-based learning. Experience working with diverse groups of students, including those with varying learning abilities and behavioral patterns. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Team player who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
