Location:
Syracuse, NY Position Overview The Syracuse Community Hebrew School is seeking a passionate, organized, and engaging Director of Madrichim to lead and support our teen leadership program. The Director of Madrichim provides mentorship, supervision, and guidance to teen madrichim who serve as Hebrew and tefillah tutors for younger students. This role focuses on helping teens develop leadership skills while ensuring a positive, structured, and successful tutoring environment. The Director works closely with madrichim in the classroom, monitors student progress, provides coaching and support, and serves as a liaison between the madrichim and school leadership. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in Hebrew and Jewish prayer, enjoys working with teenagers, and is committed to nurturing the next generation of Jewish leaders. Key Responsibilities Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise teen madrichim. Support madrichim as they work with younger students in Hebrew and tefillah instruction. Monitor student progress and help madrichim implement effective tutoring strategies. Provide ongoing feedback, encouragement, and leadership development opportunities for teen tutors. Ensure madrichim have the materials, resources, and guidance needed for success. Maintain a positive, welcoming, and structured learning environment. Communicate regularly with madrichim, families, and school leadership as needed. Coordinate madrichim assignments and schedules. Prepare and organize instructional materials for weekly sessions. Collaborate with the Head of School to support program goals and student outcomes. Qualifications Strong Hebrew reading and comprehension skills. Knowledge of Jewish prayer (tefillah), synagogue practice, and Jewish learning. Experience working with, teaching, or mentoring teenagers. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to motivate, guide, and support teen leaders. Dependable, collaborative, and flexible. Previous experience in Jewish education, youth engagement, or synagogue programming preferred.
Position Details Schedule:
Wednesdays, 4:00-6:30 p.m. (on-site)
Additional Time:
Approximately 30 minutes of weekly preparation
Total Hours:
Approximately 3 hours per week
Compensation:
