Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
: The Director of Tutoring and Writing Centers is responsible for overseeing and managing all responsibilities pertaining to Marywood University tutoring and writing services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Recruit, train, supervise, and support student and/or professional staff for various tutoring programs Provide direct writing assistance for Marywood undergraduate and graduate students Monitor current international writing and tutoring center trends and adapt to Marywood student needs Research, create, provide, and maintain resources to assist students in developing independent studying and writing skills Construct and execute relevant campus and in-class workshops and events as requested and needed Promote tutoring and writing services through various mediums and across campus Manage and maintain all relevant websites pertaining to tutoring and writing services Communicate with faculty, staff, and administration as needed pertaining to tutoring services Manage student schedules, payroll, and department budget Delegate tasks to tutoring staff as appropriate and necessary Communicate and work collaboratively with Student Success staff Create and maintain record keeping systems to collect data, monitor growth, and implement changes according to center usage and demands
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
(knowledge, skill, abilities): Knowledge of APA and MLA required Knowledge of current academic writing requirements according to various levels and disciplines in higher education Excellent computer and technology skills including Google products, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Learning Management Systems, and Springshare software Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills Willingness to learn and adapt to new policies, programs, trends and technologies
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Master's Degree in English, Writing, Composition, Education, or related field Extensive experience working with student writing both one-on-one and in a university classroom environment Two or more years of related employment
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience working for a university writing center Experience working with at-risk student populations including: ELL/Multilingual students, students with disabilities, first generation college students, and under-prepared students Knowledge and experience implementing Universal Design for Learning
