In person (Pasadena, CA) About Us ]We are looking for an engaging, dependable, and knowledgeable Academic Tutor to support 6th-grade and 9th-grade students in core STEM and social science subjects. Key Responsibilities Provide customized, one-on-one academic tutoring for 6th-grade and 9th-grade coursework. Teach and reinforce foundational concepts in General Science, Biology, and Geography / Earth Science. Assist with homework review, test preparation, project planning, and subject-specific writing/research. Help students develop effective study habits, time management, and organizational skills. Track academic progress, identify areas needing reinforcement, and provide brief session updates to parents/director. Qualifications Strong academic background in Biology, General Science, Geography, or related STEM/humanities fields (current university students or recent graduates welcome). Prior tutoring, teaching, or mentoring experience with middle school and high school students. Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to break down complex topics into engaging lessons. Patient, encouraging, and structured approach to learning. Reliable, punctual, and highly organized. Fluency in English; multilingual proficiency (e.g., Mandarin or Cantonese) is a plus.
