Job Description

Position Summary The Art Beat Collective is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and student-centered After-School Tutors to support the implementation of its Digital Music & Media Production After-School Program. This position works directly with students and instructional staff to provide academic support, reinforce curriculum concepts, assist with creative projects, and help maintain a positive and engaging learning environment. The After-School Tutor serves as a mentor and support resource for students participating in digital music production, media arts, creative technology, and career exploration activities. This role requires strong communication skills, a passion for youth development, and the ability to support students with varying learning styles and skill levels. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students during program activities. Assist students in understanding and completing curriculum assignments and creative projects. Support classroom instruction, student engagement, and positive behavior management. Assist with student attendance tracking, sign-in procedures, and participation monitoring. Support student portfolio development and project completion. Assist with setup, organization, care, and security of studio equipment and technology. Serve as a positive mentor and role model for students. Support implementation of student incentive and recognition programs. Assist with student showcases, family engagement events, and special program activities. Collaborate with Project Managers, Enrichment Teachers, and school site personnel. Desired Qualifications Experience working with youth in educational, after-school, mentoring, recreation, arts, or community settings. Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Interest in music production, media arts, creative technology, or digital learning. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations. Dependable, organized, and student-focused. Ability to support multiple students and activities simultaneously. Minimum Qualifications Meet the minimum education requirements equivalent to those required of instructional aides within local school districts (e.g., high school diploma or equivalent, and /or 48 college units/AA degree). Experience working with youth in educational, after-school, mentoring, recreation, arts, or community settings preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations. Ability to pass required background screening and district clearance requirements. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a positive and dependable mentor who enjoys working with young people and helping them succeed. They are patient, collaborative, and enthusiastic about supporting students as they develop creative, technical, and career-ready skills through music and media production. Goals & Metrics of Success Success in this role will be measured by: Consistent support of daily attendance goals of 15-18 students per session through active student engagement, outreach support, and accurate sign-in procedures. Positive student survey results demonstrating strong relationships, mentorship, and student satisfaction with program activities. Effective support of student progress through the 12-unit Digital Music & Media Production curriculum. Assistance in achieving student portfolio completion goals through project support, documentation, and encouragement. Consistent implementation of student incentive and recognition programs to promote attendance, participation, and positive behavior. Proper care, organization, and security of studio equipment, technology, instructional materials, and program resources. Daily readiness of classroom and studio spaces, including setup, breakdown, organization, and maintenance support. Positive working relationships and effective collaboration with Project Managers, Enrichment Teachers, school staff, and fellow tutors. Timely and accurate completion of attendance records, assigned documentation, and other program support responsibilities. Positive feedback from students, instructional staff, school personnel, families, and community partners. Active participation in staff meetings, trainings, student showcases, recruitment activities, and family engagement events. Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, punctuality, and adherence to program policies and procedures. Contribution to a safe, inclusive, positive, and productive learning environment that supports student growth and success. Maintain an average student-to-tutor engagement ratio in which all assigned students receive individualized support at least once during each program session. Other goals and performance metrics as jointly determined by the Project Manager and Managing Partners.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this position must have the ability to: See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids. Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without hearing aids. Speak so that others may understand at normal levels and on the telephone. Repetitiously enter data into a personal computer. Operate standard office equipment and dial a telephone. Operate a motor vehicle. Sit, stand, walk, bend over, grasp, reach overhead, stoop, twist, climb, push, pull and move, lift and/or carry 0 to 30 pounds to waist height.
Work Environment:
Employees in this position will be required to work indoors in a standard office environment; supervise staff and student activities indoors and outdoors in varying degrees of temperatures; travel by motor vehicle; and come indirect contact with students, parents, community organizations, district staff and the public. Pay:
