Function of Position:
Reporting to the Program Lead of CSTEP, Tutors work with students to help them develop effective learning strategies and to become self-regulated learners. These tutors help students with discipline-specific content.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Foster the development of independent, intentional learners Help students understand and use effective learning strategies Provide tutor assistance in A&P in one-on-one and group settings Develop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and faculty Attend training activities to comply with tutoring requirements and expectations before and/or during semesters Collaborate with the CSTEP Project Lead on providing workshops to fill learning gaps of both tutors and students with discipline-specific content. The CSTEP Program Lead will collaborate with the Biology Department as needed. Adhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor Handbook Promote critical thinking and problem solving Help to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline-specific content Tutors will log in daily in the tutoring sign-in binder

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Must have earned a grade A in BIO 144 and provide a letter of recommendation from a Biology Professor Working towards Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related discipline Technology savvy Experience working with diverse college populations
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned a grade A in BIO 145 Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

$20 hr.
